Modern, English Country Garden Design in Cheshire
In 2016 Michael John McGarr was awarded the honours for his garden design in Cheshire named "Hall to Home". The garden was created to reference the work of of Capability Brown and Piet Oudolf and showed how the English Country Garden Style could be reimagined in a Modern Garden.
The garden design in Cheshire was met with critical acclaim and was featured on the BBC as Michael was interviewed on the garden by Rachel De Thame of BBC Gardener's World.
The design is particularly relevant to garden design in Cheshire as it references both historic buildings and contemporary architectural style of the area promoting a new dialogue for the Modern English Country Garden.
MJM STUDIO opted for a geometric design layout, drawing inspiration from the Cheshire landscape. Given that the existing garden rises gently towards the scenic hills, this elevation was skilfully integrated into the garden design for a visually enchanting finish.
A standout feature is the Modern, Black Palladian structure, boasting a "Fire and Ice" champagne store offering relaxation all year round.
The BLACK powder coated structure creates an idyllic setting for morning teas or entertaining guests.
The design follows the ethos that Classical design can be reimagined for a contemporary setting.
"The Cheshire garden typology is a mix of heritage and modern styles and this design bridges this gap perfectly."

MJM STUDIO completed a large garden design project for us at our previous house. They managed the project from initial design through to build completion. Throughout the process they delighted us from a design that was both sympathetic to the wider area but also blended with our new home. They were professional, friendly and respectful during the build and minimised the disruption associated with a large build project. My wife and I were thrilled with the end results and I would have no hesitation in recommending” – Patrick Gormley
